Long Beach Marathon Song Bird
Oh my! It's been an eventful past couple of weeks. We moved, filmed a movie, won tickets to watch The Lion King musical and still had time to unpack and keep the little man busy. This past weekend I was asked to sing the national anthem for my lovely Long Beach! In case you were hiding under a rock the Long Beach Marathon is huge and growing every year.
Before the marathon's official start, I sang at the carbo-load dinner for Cottonwood Church's Run to Help the Hurting team, that happened to be 360 runners deep this year. This church is my heart and this is the second year they've asked me to come out and perform. It's always a blast. What an amazing way to kick off the weekend.
So I've performed the National Anthem for 20 years. I still get nervous every single time. It's such a huge responsibility and all eyes and ears are always on you. It exhilarating- after the fact! Nerves calm after I'm done and I know I didn't flub any of the words. I'm happy to say all 3 times I had to sing went on without a hitch! Thank God!
My mom captured the whole thing. This was the third and final time I sang the song for the weekend. it was nerve wrecking but so much fun!
My mom was there supporting me as the song bird and also supporting my Step-Father Will who ran the half that morning and still had the strength to go to church and serve. It was awesome!
Thank you so much to The Long Beach Marathon for having me and to Cottonwood Church for inviting me back to pump up your runners!!
