Finding Me through fitness
Where to begin when trying to write about my fitness journey and all the ups and downs and in between? Looking back at myself when I was younger, I was always this tall, thin curly haired girl. I was that girl that could eat anything and never think twice about it, but let me tell you once I graduated high school that whole welcome to womanhood, came in with other plans.
All of a sudden I was hippy and my once flat tummy started getting a little more jiggle with every bag of hot chips I ate. Fast forward to the last 5 years and I have been up and down and oh yeah! I had a baby that really threw a whole other spin on this body of mine.
Thankfully, I have a very supportive husband; by supportive I mean eats with me and goes on yo-yo diets as a team, but finally we have got ourselves together. Cross fit, or better described as a strength and conditioning gym, came into my path. I was so intimated when we first signed up, here I was 50 lbs over weight and surrounded by super fit people and more or less a community of like minded people (cue the wall flower).
Starting the journey was the hardest part mentally, but I finally changed my diet and jumped into this thing with both feet, 6 months later I was down 30lbs and had strength I didn't know I could ever have. As I come to the 1 years anniversary of this journey I'm still going strong on weight lifting goals and my diet, well let's just say a girl likes to eat and all that diet stuff will have to just come in seasons.
This journey has given me confidence I needed to push forward with my dreams and the mental strength to know I can do it. Whatever your journey accept the ups and downs and strive to make it happen for yourself.
